      In the changing era of digital technology, the safety standards for audio-visual products (AV) and information technology equipment (ITE) products have gradually changed from passive safety regulations (IEC/EN 60065 & IEC/EN 60950-1) in the past to actively preventing potential Dangerous safety standard IEC/EN 62368-1:2014 (Second Edition). In addition, the international standard IEC 62368-1:2018 and the EU standard EN 62368-1:2020 (both are referred to as the third edition) have also been launched in the market, which has caused many manufacturers to choose between the second and third editions. Update the product after the third edition is confirmed.

      As of April 2020, although the European Union EN 62368-1:2020 standard will be announced on 2021-01-26, the EU directive 2014/35/EU has not yet included EN 62368-1:2020 in the latest standard. For video and other products exported to Europe, we recommend using EN 62368-1: 2014 (Second Edition) in order to catch up with the deadline for the final update of the standard before the end of 2020 and grasp the market access opportunities. In addition, the United States and Canada have fully adopted UL 62368-1 as a national standard. The UL 62368-1 standard is expected to completely replace the current UL 60950-1 and UL 60065.

      The main differences between the 2014 and 2018 editions of IEC 62368-1

      1. For products with commonly used communication cables, such as USB or Ethernet (PoE), for DC power supply equipment, additional requirements must comply with IEC 62368-3.
