      News丨Button dry batteries will be included in the scope of Korean KC certification management, effective in November this year

      Recently, South Korea revised the "Electrical Appliances and Household Products Safety Management Law" to include button dry batteries for the first time in the scope of KC certification control. This regulation will take effect on November 15, 2020, and its control scope includes cylindrical batteries and button batteries. At the same time, if the terminal product contains cylindrical batteries and button batteries, the batteries used must also be certified by KC before they can be sold in the Korean market.

      The certification control requirements are as follows:

      (1) Cylindrical batteries and button batteries need to obtain KC certification separately before they can be exported to South Korea.

      (2) Involving products that use cylindrical batteries and button batteries. The batteries need to first obtain KC certification before the whole product can be sold through customs.

      (3) The specific applicable standards for cylindrical batteries and button batteries have not yet been promulgated, and will be updated if further consultation is required.
