On July 15th, 2024, TISI of Thailand published a number of new compulsory standards for industrial products, including the new standard of mobile power pack (charging treasure): TIS 2879-2567 (2024).
About the new standard
The new standard TIS 2879-2567 (2024) is a brand-new safety standard for mobile power pack in Thailand, and it is expected to take effect 180 days after the publication of the official gazette. But up to now, TISI has not disclosed the specific implementation plan and the exact effective time point. In the meantime, in order to ensure the smooth transition of the market, the certification and testing of mobile power pack products will still be carried out in strict accordance with the current TIS 2879-2560 (2017) standard.
Main contents of the new standard
Product definition update: The composition and scope of application of mobile power pack are defined.
Safety performance requirements: Based on international standards such as IEC 62133 and IEC 62368, higher requirements are put forward for the safety and durability of batteries.
Impact of new standards on manufacturers/exporters
◆ The manufacturer needs to re-evaluate the product design to ensure that it meets the safety indicators of the new standard.
◆ The manufacturer may need to adjust the production line to meet the new testing and certification requirements.
◆ The mobile power products exported by enterprises to Thailand must complete the conformity assessment and certification of the new standard within the specified time.
◆ Exporters need to pay close attention to the official announcement of TISI to obtain the latest implementation rules and effective date of the standard.
Application process and requirements of TISI certification in Thailand
1. Data review
First of all, you need to confirm the importer information, factory information (such as ISO 9001 certificate), product information, and determine the factory inspection time. In addition, although TISI certification does not accept CB transfer certificate, providing CB report of corresponding model is helpful for quick review and acceptance of parts list.
2. Sample testing
After the case is opened, samples can be sent to Thailand for testing.
3. Factory inspection
Translate enterprise data into English as much as possible, which can improve the efficiency of factory inspection. In addition, TISI certification needs to provide local actual importers in Thailand, with Thai importers as certificate holders. If the importer of similar products changes, the factory remains unchanged or the product remains unchanged, it is still necessary to reschedule the factory inspection.
4. Submit the application certificate
Submit test report+factory inspection report application certificate.
5. Issue certificates
From July 20, 2021, in addition to the TISI logo, it is necessary to apply for a QR code on the system and print it on the product before shipment.
